AGENCY
As a division of The Un-Gyve Limited Group, ISŌLE represents artists on the The Un-Gyve Roster and coordinates with BIS BIS bespoke production and installation, residential, hospitality, commercial and community commissions and acquisitions. Artists support is provided by DU: the un-profit member of The Un-Gyve Limited Group.
PUBLICATIONS
The 1990s saw Un-Gyve publications of art, architectural and design monographs and catalogues for BIS BIS of the works of Marco Zanuso, whose Zagara design line was entered into the permanent collections of MoMA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art the prior decade, Luigi Molinis, and others; Chicago premiere of DU: Disegno Universale: the touring museum exhibit, sponsored by BIS BIS and presented by The Un-Gyve Limited Group, at The Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design; and the opening of the Isole Gallery of Art + Industrial Design in Boston. Since then Un-Gyve Press has been publishing accoladed books of visual arts, as well as illustrated literature, boxed sets and limited edition pieces; as well as fine exhibition catalogues in concert with Isole.
COLLABORATIONS & CURATORIAL PARTNERSHIPS
The Un-Gyve Limited Group has been connecting cultures through the arts, commerce, community and education for decades:
Presenting the industrial design of Italy’s Marco Zanuso, now in the permanent collection of MoMA and the Philadelphia Museum of Art; and introducing semincasso sinks to American architects and designers for universal design applications, adding high design to Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and accessibility at the met and other public spaces.
Taking Twosomes by American photographer Mark Chester to the Reykjavik Museum of Photography; and exhibiting his latest work which documents cultural diversity, with portraits of naturalized citizens of Massachusetts from the more than 190 countries represented in the state, in public libraries, museums, and diverse art venues including the cancer center at Massachusetts General Hospital and the Mayor’s Gallery at Boston City Hall.
We presented DU: Disegno Universale in Chicago with the Australian Exhibition Center in association with the John David Mooney Foundation, where the artwork of Puerto Rican painter Wilfredo Chiesa was exhibited along with works of European industrial designers.
More recent collaborations were conducted with The Embassy of Ireland in Washington, D.C. and The Irish Arts Center in NYC, for readings from Selected Delanty and a talk with the Irish American poet Greg Delanty and Irish author Colum McCann.
Un-Gyve Press published the bilingual book with double album compilation on the Un-Gyve label called With a Cuban song in the heart by Iván Acosta, and promoted ongoing album art exhibitions and music performances given by such celebrated artists as Cándido Camero and a stellar ensemble led by arranger and trumpeter Greg Hopkins featuring pianist Anibal Cruz with guest David Oquendo, vocals and guitar, for an occasion co-sponsored by Voces Hispánicas/Hispanic Voices and the Department of Romance Studies of Boston University, underwritten by Santander Universities Global Division.
The Paris Book by Marian Parry, another of our titles, was celebrated with an author talk at The Boston Public Library and by reviewers writing in the Globe about this “exquisitely drawn love story” (“‘Paris’ memories”) and other parts of the globe as in France under Parisian News for the Plume Voyage Magazine (“The Paris Book: Select Morsel”).
Also on our list is a first book by Polish writer and translator Kasia Buczkowska, in Prose, and translations in The Truth of Two from the Italian by the poet Harry Thomas by which, in the words of poet and translator, Rachel Hadas, “readers of this Selected should feel a compelling sense of correspondence across languages and centuries.”
Shooting across languages and centuries of another kind, another Un-Gyve Press first, Shoot the Arrow: A Portrait of The World Famous *BOB* photographs by Amy Touchette with words by The World Famous *BOB* was covered cross-continentally, including features in Italian press and interviews on Australian radio.
We’ve recently issued in limited edition the historic collection of mixed media/watercolour illustrations Views of the Haunts and Homes of the British Poets, Oct. 19 1850.
In all this, and more than this, all the while we have engaged with international cultural centers, universities, trade commissions, federal, state and municipal offices, public, corporate and private institutions, as well as diplomatic missions, for exceptional exchanges, enjoyment and benefit to all involved.
